Conservation & Community

We feel pretty fortunate to live in an area that has so many great and varied places to paddle.  So as a club we are involved in efforts that either help to maintain the paddling environment or help to introduce others to our sport.  Over the past 3 years the club has supported both The Woods Project and Wounded Warrior (Team River Runner) with monetary donations.

We like to help with volunteer hours, too.  Individual members are passionate about supporting a variety of paddling related causes and events, and often post these on the event calendar so that other club members can join in.

Among these are:

  • The Armand Bayou Trash Bash
  • Friends of the Sargent Library
  • The Buffalo Bayou Regatta
  • Wounded Warrior (Team River Runner)
  • Kayak support for the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN 70.3
  • Kayak support for the Kemah Triathlon
  • The Annual Hidalgo Falls River Festival
  • Paddle Bayou Lafourche
  • The Woods Project
  • GBF Crab Trap Cleanup

A number of non-HASK events are also posted on our website to further benefit members of the paddling community:

  • CPR training classes
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Paddlers’ Camping Course
  • Corpus Christi Paddlefest
