The Kayak Roll by Steve Walls
Are you ready to learn to roll? For a first roll I recommend the Extended Paddle roll. It has the advantage of leverage and simplicity. It is in the style of rolls called a back deck roll, or lay back. You can find examples of it on You Tube. With a four step process done above water you will build the muscle memory so that when you do go for your first roll you are likely to succeed. Once you've learn this style of roll and you become fluid with it, it is a easy progression to move to a standard sweep roll, which is what we normally use in real scenarios. Every paddler has different needs and levels of mobility . I can adapt this roll to fit most every need. I guarantee a roll! If I do not succeed in getting you a roll the first session we will arrange a follow up. 80% of my students get a roll the first session, 100% the second!
