Trip Description:
We will meet at 9:30 AM, ready to launch by 10:00 AM, at the boat ramp on Hwy. 3, Dickinson, Texas.  There are full bathroom facilities at Paul Hopkins Park on FM 517, on the way to the put-in.  There was a porta-can at the put-in last time we launched from this site.  Dickinson bayou has some really beautiful, seculded areas upstream where we will paddle for about 5 miles before returning to lunch at Garcia's Mexican Restaurant, located on the water where we can take out.  They offer a variety of dishes and we can either dine in the comfort of AC or eat on an outside patio, depending on current conditions.
~ After lunch we will return to the put-in, about 1.2 miles, and those wishing to terminate their trip, may do so at this time.  Kayakers interested in extending their trip, may paddle downstream and view the lower bayou and some of the housing areas before returning to the take-out.  This last leg of the trip is optional.

Directions:  Take I-45 South and exit FM 517.  Take FM 517 East (to the left under the freeway).  You will go over one little bayou, Paul Hopkins Park is on the right just before another bayou should you require a bathroom break.  Cross at traffic light, turn right at next entrance to the park - restrooms are located at this parking lot.  Or, continue onward to Hwy 3, turn right and travel about 0.3 mile to 48th St. and turn right into the boat ramp area.

Hazards: May include motor boat traffic, jet ski traffic, water snakes, submerged tree stumps, hanging limbs and branches, insects and wasps.
Bring plenty of drinking water to maintain hydration throughout the paddle.  Please be mindful of the weather and dress/pack accordingly.  Be sure to bring an extra set of dry clothes with you in your kayak. Please, NO COTTON!
