We will put-in at the end of Anderson Ways Rd.  We have a couple of options depending on weather and conditions.
  • Paddle to South Deer Island and then possibly around North Deer Island -- Distance is about 6 miles round trip.
  • Paddle southwest along the Galveston shoreline, exploring coves along the way. This could be combined with option one.
We will make the decision at the put-in.  Please bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a snack.

There are bird rookeries on both North and South Deer Islands. These islands are protected habitat so don't plan to land. On prior trips we have seen great egrets, great blue herons, roseate spoonbills, lots of tricolored herons, little blue herons, snowy egrets, black skimmers, oystercatchers and flocks of white ibis.

Take the 61st exit and turn right on 61st
