Trip Description:  We will be exploring the upper reaches of Lake Conroe beginning and returning to Cagle Recreation Area in the Beautiful Sam Houston National Forest.  

 

 

Directions:  Just 45 minutes north of Houston.  Take I 45 to FM 1375 in New Waverly and turn left (west) and travel approx 5 miles to Cagle Park Road.  Check in at the Ranger's station.  There is a $5.00 day use fee payable at the station.
There are toilet facilities as well as showers available.

Lat/Long:  30.5221N / 95.5902W

Hazards: This is an easy flat water paddle.  Hazards a few but include slipping hazards at the launch site,  motor boat traffic, Stumps in the water.., stinging/biting critters wasps, bees, fire ants, mosquitoes, lions, tigers bears, coyotes, snakes, and an occasional alligator.

  • Add Smartwaiver with email address “noreply@smartwaiver.com” to your address book to ensure emails do not go to junk/spam.

    • HASK members should always choose the Annual Waiver option and leave the Name of the Event and Activity Date blank.
    • Non-HASK event participants should always choose the One Time Event Waiver option and specify the Name of the Event and Activity Date.

Guests – You are welcome to join us for a couple of paddle trips.  HASK will cover the $5 ACA event membership for non-ACA members. Hopefully you will then join HASK and continue paddling with us.
