Hazards: Power boats and fishing boats, slippery ramps, alligators, cold water, Otherwise, dehydration, fire ants, mosquitoes. Bring Lunch/brunch to eat at state park ramp. Bring adequate water, sun protection, and a change of clothes in case you fall in.

This is an ACA sanctioned event. All participants in ACA-insured activities must wear properly-fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets (Personal Flotation Devices, or PFDs) at all times during on-water activities. Non-HASK participants must sign a waiver. See all rules at the bottom of this page.

Leg One launches at the Anthony Ferry Road boat launch. Give yourself about 20 minutes to drive there from the state park.  Unload boats at 8:30 a.m. and drive your car to final destination. Paddles in the water no later than 10 a.m. Level One easy beautiful river paddle. 
Leg two  to the Calcasieu Saltwater Barrier is cancelled.  The Salt Water Barrier ramp and parking is closed.  The nearest alternative take out has been scouted and is not advised because the river becomes very wide and susceptible to strong headwinds.  Let's hike and play  at the park instead.

Drive times:

Give yourself 20 minutes to get from the state park to Anthony Ferry Boat Launch.

Plan to leave the park at about 8 a.m.  We will shuttle most cars back to the Park.  After a beautiful peaceful paddle, we should be at the state park boat ramp by lunch time.  Those who want to paddle more can go further downstream or upstream after lunch or just wait until Sunday.

  • You will receive a confirmation email. Please download and print a copy of the waiver and bring it to the trip put-in. 

 

Guests – You are welcome to join us for a couple of paddle trips.  HASK will cover the $5 ACA event membership for non-ACA members. Hopefully you will then join HASK and continue paddling with us.
