This is an ACA sanctioned event, but PFD's are not required as there will be no paddling on water. Non-HASK participants must sign a waiver. See all rules at the bottom of this page. You must be an ACA member to attend this course.

FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE REASONS, YOU MUST BE AN ACA MEMBER TO ATTEND THIS EVENT

We will

 - display and discuss the key items to bring on a kayak-supported overnight or multi-night camping trip.
 - discuss best practices for kayak packing and demonstrate with actual gear for a 5 day, 4 night trip and a kayak.
 - provide sample packing lists will be provided.  Students may wish to bring pen and paper, cameras, recording devices, etc to capture notes.

This training is envisioned as preparation for an actual one night kayak camping trip for beginners, possibly in March 2022, where more skills will be taught.

The venue for this event will be a large, covered pavilion at Jesse H Jones Park, 20634 Kenswick Dr, Humble, TX 77338.  Meeting details will be provided closer to the event date.

Waivers - Please complete our easy to use online waiver if you are a HASK member who has not signed a waiver within the last 12 months or a non- HASK participant. Read the waiver carefully.  You give up substantial rights when you sign it.

  • You will receive a confirmation email. Please download and print a copy of the waiver and bring it to the trip put-in. 

 

Guests – You are welcome to join us for a couple of paddle trips.  As per our insurer, we will collect $10 from each non-American Canoe Association (ACA) participant and send it to the ACA. Hopefully you will then join HASK and continue paddling with us.
