Join HASK for the Just After Full Moon paddle (~5 pm) on Christmas Bay with friends! (This time with more water in the bay! See predicted tides below.)

Meet at the house at 235 Galleon Freeport TX 77541 in the Treasure Island neighborhood on the bay side just off the Blue Water Highway just before crossing the bridge from Freeport to Galveston. (Note - $2 cash toll to cross bridge from Galveston.)

To respect our neighbors, please unload quietly and park about a block away at the Treasure Island Municipal Building on Fathom Driver.  (No parking on street or grass, please.)

Meet at the same location at 5:30p for the Level 2 paddle.  Wind and waves can be predicted closer to the event.  NOAA's predicted tides appear favorable for water level, slack, and return.  Sunset ~5:20p with Nautical Twilight 6:06p - 6:19p, Moon Rise at ~5:44p, and high tide just after 7 pm. Dress appropriately and possibly for immersion. [Note: If rain delay, then reschedule to the next evening with Moon Rise approximately 50 minutes later.]

Please have the following:  One good headlamp with any additional "always on" lights (red or dim)One back up flashlight in a dry-bag or on deck, 1-2 glow sticks (preferably reusable as found at Home Depot, Lowes, or Amazon.). VHF Marine Radio is helpful, hopefully we will have three or more in the group. We plan to paddle about 6 statute miles with one or two stops to stretch our legs.

Water temperature reaches averages in the low 60 degree F but wind and water can vary. Food and hydration are strongly encouraged since we will be out several hours.

Both outdoor shower and boat wash hose are available for use.  We can use the sub-division boat ramp if folks prefer.

Route Plan

If you don't want to drive home, some folks will be camping on the beach.  Rental houses are available from VRBO or 979VacationRentals.  See availability at Bayhouse Accommodations on event calendar.   Brazoria County Parks has RV spots next door (by foot or water) with some cabin rentals. (Please note that camping at the rented bay house is not allowed by rental and neighborhood rules.)

Lynne and Paula plan to be at a nearby house all week.  Prior to this Full Moon Paddle, contact Lynne if you would like to join the scouting mission (or play on the bay) earlier that week.
