Trip Description: Paddle Christmas Bay through Titlum-Tatlum bayou up to Christmas Point where we can take a break.  Then paddle South across the bay to another launching area (if we need another break) and finally East through Churchill Bayou, Cold Pass to the original launch site.

Directions to the Put-in: From Houston via I:45: Take I-45 south to Galveston, exit at 61st street and take a right onto 61st , drive to Seawall Blvd and take a right.  Drive to the southwest end of Galveston Island, about 25+ miles.  Cross the bridge at San Luis Pass. There is a $2 toll.  Immediately after crossing the bridge, take the first right (Access road 7) and an immediate right heading back on the feeder toward the pass. There will be a sign for the San Luis Pass Park parking area and a left turn.  Go past the parked cars to the boat launch and unload.  Then move cars to parking area right away so as not to block the boat launch area.

Alternate Route via Pearland:  Take HWY. 288 south towards Freeport. Take Hwy 332 exit south to Surfside, cross over bridge and turn left on CR 257 (Bluewater Hwy). Travel towards Galveston approx. 15 miles to Toll Bridge (do not cross over bridge). Take feeder road to the left just before the Toll Bridge. Follow feeder road to park entrance.

Lat - lon of the put-in is   29° 4.807'N,  95° 7.566'W

If you're coming via Surfside, Tx, take the Blue Water Highway (CR 257) to San Luis Pass, about 13.5 miles. Do not cross the toll bridge to Galveston; the San Luis Pass Park is on the left immediately before the bridge.

Hazards: Heat, some boat traffic, sting rays, oyster reefs (no flip flops or bare feet), and be sure to bring lunch, extra water, some frozen if possible,  and good sun protection. We'll stop for lunch on a shell beach or island. It's helpful to get a lay of the land on Google Earth ahead of time.

Let's meet at 9:00 to launch at 9:30 a.m.
