Trip Description: We will meet at the Clear Lake boat ramp on NASA Rd. 1 at 0930.  Plan to launch about 1000 and paddle to Taylor Lake, circumnavigate the lake, then return to Clear Lake boat ramp for the take-out.  At this time, those who wish to lunch together will drive further out NASA Rd. 1 to the restaurant, Boondoggles Pub on the left side of the road.  It's about a 3 minute drive.

Taylor Lake is surrounded by homes, mostly $$$$$ homes, some certainly worth seeing due to the beautiful landscapes and architecture.  The boat and jet ski traffic is usually very light.  The surroundings encourage a slow, distracted paddle through the lake.  Once we paddle beyond Red Bluff Road, the scenery becomes the usual marsh grasses and scrub trees, with our ubiquitous refinery backdrop.  The return to Clear Lake will likely be a faster paddle, as our hunger mounts.

Directions: From Houston take Interstate 45 South to the NASA Rd. 1 exit toward Clear Lake (do not take the Bypass exit!), drive to Clear Lake, cross the lake bridge and take the first right into the boat ramp area.  If you miss it, Clear Lake Park will be on the left at a traffic signal.  Turn around and return to the boat ramp area.
Bathroom facilities are available in the adjacent park across the road.

Hazards: Boat traffic, cold weather, wind, and waves are the greatest challenges on this trip.  We will observe traffic in the area and provide ample room for boats to navigate the lakes.  Dress for the weather.
