Trip Description:   Come join me in one of my favorite peaceful paddle spots.

“Paddle the San Bernard River in Fort Bend County at a location called the Blue Hole (don't let the name fool you).   This is a beautiful section of the river that has almost no flow and some of the largest Cypress trees anywhere in Texas, including one that is supposed to be declared the state champion.” (this description written by David Heinicke… TP&W).

Total mileage about 6 miles,
Please note that the trip is two segments of 3 miles each (south, then north from the park) and can be done as one segment or the other.  Trip length is dependent on water level.

Hazards:

+ Fishing lines with hooks hanging from trees, be observant if you are under overhanging limbs
+ I have seen many birds, a couple of snakes and squirrels but nothing really scary.

Directions to the Put-in:  (From Houston)
  • South on Hwy 59 (Google says 18.9 Mi south from the intersection of Hwy 36 in Rosenburg, or about 33 miles south of the Sam Houston Tollway).
  • Take the exit for FM 2919, second marked as Kendleton .
  • Turn left at intersection ( Lum Rd/Main St), Cross under highway 59 and move to the right lane take the 1st right onto Charlie Roberts Ln/Roberts Ln.
  • Follow road past a left turn and continue to the park and then continue straight
  • Boat Ramp is at the west end of the park, down a short well graded gravel drive.

The parks address is: 630 Charlie Roberts Ln.   Kendleton, Texas 77451

The park has picnic tables near by which work well for an after paddle snack.   There are bathrooms in the park but they are county park bathrooms about halfway back to the entrance.
Bring water, snacks and anything you need for a comfortable day on the water.

With the Freak August Cold Front that came in:  Be prepared for "cold" air and water.

We will be "near" the civilization but still a couple miles back in the woods.
If you signup and later need to cancel please let me know (contact info above) as a courtesy to the others who will be waiting for you to arrive at the launch site.
