Sunday, July 19 - Christmas Bay, Titlum Tatlum Bayou, Cold Pass 9-10 Miles
We will meet at the beach across from the pavilion at San Luis Pass County Park that faces San Luis Pass at 9 AM on Sunday. Please be on time, we plan to launch by 9:30. Bring a lunch, snacks, and drinking water. We will have lunch at the take out. I will provide a fresh cold fruit medley.
Directions to the Put-in: From Houston take I-45 south to Galveston, exit at 61st street and take a right onto 61st , drive to Seawall Blvd and take a right. Drive to the southwest end of Galveston Island, about 25+ miles. Cross the bridge at San Luis Pass. There is a $2 toll. Immediately after crossing the bridge, take the first right (Access road 7) and an immediate right heading back on the feeder toward the pass. There will be a sign for the San Luis Pass Park parking area and a left turn. If you go straight at this point, you will go onto the sand and follow the hard packed sand with car tracks angling to the left. Look for a dark blue Ford Explorer Lic#: DWP-2183. There will likely be other vehicles with kayaks and roof racks.
If you're coming via Surfside, Tx, take the Blue Water Highway to San Luis Pass, about 13.5 miles. Do not cross the toll bridge to Galveston; the San Luis Pass Park is on the left immediately before the bridge.

Lat-lon of put-in: 29° 4.807'N, 95° 7.566'W
Hazards:
Small boat traffic especially in Cold Pass and the bayous.
Oyster reefs - We will do our best to navigate around these and avoid hull scratches. It is possible that due to low water, we will need to walk our boats a short distance and oysters may be present. It is best to wear paddling shoes or boots. Could just be tennis shoes you don't mind getting wet. You risk foot injury with flip flops, crocks, sandals or bare feet.
Other: Sting rays, snakes on the island
