In March or April the folks at the Armand Bayou Nature Center remediated the water hyacinth problem north of the Bay Area Park boat dock. Let's see if the north passage is still open as we look for birds, alligators and other wildlife along the way.
If the route north is impassable on the day of the event we can travel south into either Horsepen Bayou or down to Mud Lake. Bring a snack for the trip; optional get together after the paddle at a local restaurant for lunch.
Armand Bayou is generally a level 1 paddle, but could be level 2 if the wind is up.

Hazards -- Sunburn, dehydration, thunderstorms, alligators, fire ants, snakes and mosquitos. We will try to avoid hazards. Most importantly, bring plenty of water, sun protection and snacks.
