The trip has a variety of open water, shallow lake, shell beach, and forested bayou. We should have plenty of birds and alligators.

We will paddle northward from Hugo Point Park boat ramp into Old River Lake and then northeastward into Lost Lake.  We will stop on a shell beach at the mouth of Little Caney Creek for lunch. (Bring your own or enjoy all the Rangia clams you can eat.) If Little Caney Creek is not running strongly, we will paddle north on it a ways to see whether last year's fallen tree still blocks the creek. If it does, we will turn around there.

Hugo Point Park has good parking and launch and acceptable (2-star) rest rooms. There are good gas station rest rooms on I-10. It is busy with fishermen.
