The weather forecast looks like a perfect day for a paddle trip.

This paddle trip is usually a trip rating 1 down the east fork of Double Bayou from Double Bayou Park to Job Beason Park.

We will use the new kayak/canoe launch, so you don't have to get your feet wet.

It is well protected from wind and there is sufficient shade along the route if needed. It is an out and back trip, so no shuttle is needed.  We will stop for lunch at the turnaround point (Job Beason Park).  There are facilities available at both parks for your convenience.  Channel Marker 17 is just down the street from Job Beason Park if anyone wants a cold beer  or burger after the paddle.

Let's meet at 9:30 to launch at 10:00.

Hazards.............Sometimes a little current, one 3 foot alligator, some boat traffic, cold water, and some trees in the water.

How to Get There:

From Houston: Drive east on Interstate-10. At Exit 812 (also marked “Hankamer/Anahuac”), turn right (south) onto Highway 61. After about 3.9 miles, cross over the Lone Star Canal and stop at the intersection. Continue straight ahead through the intersection, at which time the highway number changes to 562. After about another 7.3 miles, turn right onto Eagle Ferry Road. (If you arrive at the intersection with Highway 1985, you have gone a little too far.) After 500 yards on Eagle Ferry Road (just before the road curves to the right), turn left into the entrance of Double Bayou Park. Inside the park, bear to the right at each of the forks in the road. We will meet in the small, paved parking lot adjacent to the canoe/kayak launch site. The coordinates for the meeting point are 29°40'35"N, 94°37'56"W.

From the Clear Lake Area: Take Highway 146 northeast to Interstate 10, then go east on I-10

and follow directions as above.
