This is an ACA sanctioned event. All participants in ACA-insured activities must wear properly-fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets (Personal Flotation Devices, or PFDs) at all times during on-water activities. Postponed to a later date.  Let's meet at 8:30 to launch at 9:00. The plan is to paddle 7 miles to a beachy area for lunch, paddle back a more direct route for 6 miles.



For COVID-19 precautions, we will avoid close contact, not share food or drink, masks are optional, and we will help each other with boats. We will also respect participant wishes for personal safety. 

Directions to the Put-in:

Taking 288 South from Houston, starting at I-610 toward Angleton:  Drive 27.5 miles to County Rd 48, exit and turn left.  Proceed 5.5 miles, turn left on FM 523 S / Hwy 35 Bypass.   Continue onto FM 523 for 14 miles.  Turn left on Hoskins Mound Rd. for 4.4 miles, cross Bastrop Bayou,  the very first exit on the right, then right again going back to the bayou.  Boat ramp is there at the base of the bridge.  



I'm not aware of the parking situation, it looks OK from Google Earth.  There ore probably no "facilities" at the put-in.   There may be one at the Bastrop Bayou Public Fishing Park across the bridge: Bastrop Bayou Public Fishing Park

Hazards: Boat traffic on Bastrop Bayou.  Otherwise, dehydration, fire ants, mosquitos, rattlesnakes, stingrays (shuffle your feet in the lagoon). Boat ramp can be slippery. Bring lunch, adequate water, sun protection, and a change of clothes in case you fall in. Bring lunch for a beach picnic.

Guests – You are welcome to join us for a couple of paddle trips.  HASK will cover the $5 ACA event membership for non-ACA members. Hopefully you will then join HASK and continue paddling with us.
