6 PM HASK General Meeting - Lynne Andrus Speaker

Come enjoy dinner and a great presentation from Lynne Andrus about Sailing and Kayaking in a beautiful location and concept of "Mothership". kayaks in exotic locals.

From Lynne -  Adventure Kayaking via Mothership

I'll be sharing photos and charts in a Prezi formatted presentation to kick off discussions of one of my favorite interests - adventure kayaking and travel.  My favorites include paddling in the Bahamas, kayaking in the Pacific NW and all of California's Monterrey Bay, running the Big Bend canyons, camping the Gulf Coast offshore islands, navigating Charleston harbor or Tybee Island waterways, and - to be shown here - kayaking via sailboat in California's Channel Islands and the Caribbean's Windward Islands.

Sailboats are almost as fun as kayaks and provide access to remote coastlines followed by comfortable beds, hot showers, and refrigerator/stove equipped kitchens (called galleys). Houston area kayakers can charter boats from a number of exotic ports after learning to "bareboat" sail (or by hiring a skipper/crew).

Afterward, I invite folks to briefly share if they wish - through a couple of photos, charts/maps, and brochures each - their favorite kayak travel spots.  For example, I would like to learn more about HASK members' Florida trips paddling on spring fed rivers. In addition, I heard that both Phil Salvador and Al Stern paddled well at a challenging Matanzas trip last week.

My hopes are this meeting will stimulate planning of some adventurous HASK trips this year.
