Abandoned Crab Trap Removal and Kayak Trip

The Galveston Bay Foundation will be collecting and smashing abandoned and derelict crab traps at two sites this year on Saturday, February 16 from 9am-1pm! Help them as a  land-based volunteer (helping offload traps, smashing, and tossing them in the dumpster). Galveston Bay Foundation will have sites at Fort Anahuac Park in Anahuac, TX and at the Stingaree Restaurant in Bolivar, Texas. For more information click on the link below:

Leather gloves and sturdy boots are highly recommended while working with corroded derelict traps


Directions -- Enter:  1704 S Main St, Anahuac, TX 77514 in your navigational device, Google Map, MapQuest, etc. 

Lat - lon of the put-in is  29°45'22.20"N,   94°41'11.13"W

Hazards -- Protection from the elements (sun, wind & mosquitoes) is advised. Bring soap and water to wash up. The traps are coated in nasty stuff,
